FoodNet Salzburg is an Austrian corporate network of diverse, also Austrian, food producers. FoodNet consists of six private individual companies: Salzburg Schokolade, Alpenmilch Salzburg , Ökopharm, Stieglbrauerei zu Salzburg , Wiberg and Flöckner. Overall, the network employs well over 2000 people.

History and organization

FoodNet was founded in 1999 by various Salzburg food manufacturers. The Lungau company Ökopharm became a member in 2003. The newest FoodNet member joined in 2009 and is the large Salzburg bakery Flöckner.

It is hoped that this cooperation will increase competitiveness. For example, the companies involved can benefit from each other's expertise; the individual companies nevertheless remain legally independent. It is a so-called virtual company . The model of this virtual company was developed at the University of St. Gallen and is already being used successfully. One example is the virtual factory Euregio Bodensee in the field of mechanical and plant engineering. Foodnet's partner companies work together on all levels:

  • marketing
  • Quality management
  • Purchasing
  • IT and technology
  • Training of employees

In addition, a joint tasting group is currently being set up to test new products and various recipes quickly and inexpensively, which is intended to shorten development times and increase flexibility.
