Force of Change was a German hardcore punk band from Ibbenbüren , Münster . The band existed from 1997 to 2005.

Band history

Force of Change was founded in Ibbenbüren in the summer of 1997. Original members were Niko Unnerstall (vocals), Dirk Egelkamp (guitar), Phil Steinke (bass) and Daniel Lammers (drums). In 1998 the first demo tape, Break Through, was released . It was produced by Matthias Kampmann, who later became the second guitarist. This was followed by the 7 " A Thousand Times on the independent label Schoolburst Records founded by Kampmann . The debut album The Challenge was released in 2000 via Bushido Records, which was also directed by Kampmann (in cooperation with Seb von Highscore ). In 2001 another demo was released. CD, with which the band started looking for a record label.

In 2003, the second album In the Shadow of Leaves followed on the Beniihana Records label. The band played with bands like Strike Anywhere , Comeback Kid and Give Up the Ghost , among others .

In 2005 the MCD Outstanding was released . In the same year, however, the band split for professional reasons.

In 2010 four of the former Force of Change members announced that they would be performing again under the name "Changes". Musically, the new band picks up where Force of Change came to an end in 2005. After their first show in April 2010, Changes broke up again.

style

Musically, the band moved in old school hardcore punk , with the 1988 Youth Crew, around bands like Youth of Today and Gorilla Biscuits, being the musical godfather. Accordingly, there are also many melodies and singalongs on the albums. Force of Change had more personal texts that addressed the interpersonal. The band was close to the straight edge scene .
