history
In 1931 the Erlanger Hütte was opened in the Geigenkamm above Umhausen . The idea arose to create a direct route from the Roppen train station in the Inn Valley to the new hut. This plan was immediately implemented by the Forchheim DAV section and the Forchheimer Weg was opened in 1932 . Since the path is quite long with around 7½ hours of walking, the youth of the Forchheim Section built the bivouac box on the Hahnenkamm about halfway in 1963.
