The Selber Haus is an Alpine Club hut belonging to the Selb section of the German Alpine Club for self-catering. It is located in Arzl im Pitztal , in the Austrian state of Tyrol .

Location and surroundings

The Selber house is centrally located a few kilometers south of the Inn Valley near Imst . It is open all year round and easily accessible by car, train and bus. In the vicinity of the Selber Haus there are numerous opportunities for hiking , climbing , mountaineering , cycling and skiing . In winter, the Hochzeiger ski area can be reached in a few minutes, the ski bus stop is just a few meters from the house. The ski arenas of the Pitztal Glacier, in the Paznaun , Oberinn and Ötztal valleys can be reached in an hour's drive. In summer the house yourself Talstützpunkt for nearby hikes, high gear and climbing routes . Access to a via ferrata is just a few minutes' walk from the house.

history

After efforts to take over a managed hut in the mountains failed, the section board decided in 1969 to take over a self-catering house in the Arzler district of Wald . After the owner wanted to use this house himself after 2000, the section in the main town of Arzl converted an old farmhouse into the new Selber house after a thorough renovation.

There are two four-bed rooms, two three-bed rooms and one double room as well as a larger room for six people in the house. A lounge, three kitchens and sanitary rooms complete the house. There is also a separate camp for section members that can be used for a maximum of three nights.
