Formiminotransferase cyclodesaminase (FTCD) is a bifunctional enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of formiminoglutamate and tetrahydrofolate to formiminotetrahydrofolate and glutamate .
Importance as a diagnostic marker
An alternative name for the FTCD is Liver Cytosolic Antigen (LC-1). The presence of antibodies against LC-1 (anti-LC1) is a marker for type 2 autoimmune hepatitis . However, antibodies to FTCD can also be found in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection.
