Forsyth is a small town in Taney County , Missouri , United States , located on the shores of Lake Taneycomo and Bull Shoals Lake. In 2000 there were 1,686 inhabitants. The city has an area of 5.3 km² .
history
Forsyth was registered on December 15, 1890 . In the middle of the century, plans were made to dam the White River, some 80 miles below Forsyth. This resulted in a relocation about 2 miles west of the original city to the site of a golf course in 1950. The area of the original city is now called Shadow Rock Park .
The city was named after John Forsyth , a governor of Georgia and US Secretary of State under Presidents Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren .
