The Taney County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Missouri . In 2010 , the county had 51,675 residents and a population density of 31.6 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Forsyth , named after John Forsyth , a former US Secretary of State.
Branson is a well-known tourist destination in Taney County .
geography
The county is located in the extreme south of Missouri in the Ozarks and is traversed by the White River , a right tributary of the Mississippi, which has been dammed several times . Taney County was formed in 1837. It was named after Roger Brooke Taney (1777–1864) a presiding judge at the US Supreme Court (1836–1864).
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census , Taney County had 51,675 people in 20,281 households. The population density was 31.6 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The racial the population was composed of 93.6 percent white, 0.9 percent African American, 0.8 percent Native American, 0.7 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 2.2 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 4.8 percent of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.
