The county is located in the east of Missouri on the north bank of the lower Missouri River , about 50 before its confluence with the Mississippi , which also forms the border with Illinois there . Warren County was formed in 1833 from former parts of Montgomery County. It was named, like the district capital Warrenton, after General Joseph Warren (1741–1775), who fell at the Battle of Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775 in the American Revolutionary War .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census , Warren County had 32,513 people in 11,559 households. The population density was 29.1 people per square kilometer.
The racial the population was composed of 94.4 percent white, 1.9 percent African American, 0.4 percent Native American, 0.4 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 2.9 percent of the population.
