The Washington County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Missouri . At the 2010 census , the county had 25,195 residents and a population density of 12.8 people per square kilometer. The administrative seat ( county seat ) is Potosi , which was named after a city in Bolivia in which there were large deposits of silver.
Washington County is part of the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area .

history
Washington County was formed on August 21, 1813 from former parts of Ste. Genevieve County formed. It was named after George Washington (1732–1799), the first President of the United States (1889–1897).
