The county is located in the central southeast of Missouri in the Ozarks and the Current River flows through it. It has an area of 1954 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water. The following neighboring counties border Dent County:

history

Dent County was formed on February 10, 1851 from parts of Crawford County and Shannon County. It was named after Lewis Dent , an early settler in the area who came here from Virginia in 1835 .
