The Cole County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Missouri . In 2010 , the county had 75,990 people and a population density of 74.9 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Jefferson City , which was named after Thomas Jefferson .

Cole County was formed on November 16, 1820 from parts of Cooper County. It was named after Captain Stephen Cole , an early pioneer in the area.

Demographic data
According to the 2010 census , Cole County had 75,990 people in 29,111 households. The population density was 74.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, there were 2.39 people in each of the 29,111 households.
The racial the population was composed of 85.1 percent white, 11.5 percent African American, 0.4 percent Native American, 1.3 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.7 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 2.5 percent of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.
23.3 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 64.2 percent were between 18 and 64 and 12.5 percent were 65 years or older. 49.5 percent of the population was female.
The median income for a household was 53,877 USD . The per capita income was $ 25,935. 9.6 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
