The Crawford County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Missouri . In 2010 , the county had 24,696 residents and a population density of 12.8 people per square kilometer. The county seat is in Steelville , named after James Steel , the owner of the land on which the city was built.
geography
The county is located southeast of the geographic center of Missouri in the Ozarks . It has an area of 1926 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water. The following neighboring counties border Crawford County:

history
Crawford County was formed on January 23, 1829 from parts of Gasconade County. It was named after William H. Crawford , a United States Secretary of War and Treasury.
Seven buildings and sites in the county are on the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 5, 2018).
