The Bollinger County was formed on March 1, 1851 from parts of Cape Girardeau County, Stoddard County and Wayne County. It was named after Colonel George F. Bollinger (1770–1842), an early settler in the area.
Two places in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as of February 5, 2018.
Demographic data
As of the 2010 census , Bollinger County had 12,363 people in 4,636 households. The population density was 7.7 people per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.60 people lived in the 4,636 households.
