The Cooper County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Missouri . In 2010 , the county had 17,601 people and a population density of 12 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Boonville , named after Daniel M. and Nathan Boone , the sons of Daniel Boone who worked in the salt business in the area.

Cooper County was formed on December 17, 1818 from parts of Howard County. It was named after Sarshall Cooper , who was killed by Indians in 1814.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census , Cooper County had 17,601 people in 6,397 households. The population density was 12 people per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.47 people lived in each of the 6397 households.
The racial the population was composed of 90.4 percent white, 7.1 percent African American, 0.4 percent Native American, 0.5 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.6 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 1.4 percent of the population.
