The Daviess County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Missouri . In 2010 , the county had 8,433 people and a population density of 5.7 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Gallatin , named after the US Treasury Secretary Albert Gallatin .

Daviess County was formed on December 29, 1836 from parts of Ray County. It was named after Colonel Joseph H. Daviess , who was killed in the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811 .

As of the 2010 census , Daviess County had 8,433 people in 3,288 households. The population density was 5.7 people per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.53 people lived in each of the 3288 households.
