The Scott County is a county in the US -amerikanischen State Missouri . In 2010 , the county had 39,191 residents and a population density of 36.4 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Benton , named after Thomas Hart Benton , a US Senator .

Scott County was formed in 1821. It was named after John Scott (1785–1861), the first member of the United States' Congress from Missouri.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census , Scott County had 39,191 people in 15,520 households. The population density was 36.4 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.48 people lived in each of the 15,520 households.
The racial the population was composed of 85.7 percent white, 11.4 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 0.3 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.6 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 1.8 percent of the population was Hispanic or Latino of any race.
