Ralls County was formed in 1820 from former parts of Pike County. It was named after Daniel Ralls , a Missouri MP.

As of the 2010 census , Ralls County had 10,167 people in 3,771 households. The population density was 8.3 people per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.55 people lived in each of the 3,771 households.
