Fränsta is a place in the municipality of Ånge in the Swedish province of Västernorrlands län and the historic province of Medelpad . Since 2015, it has formed the common crime scene Fränsta och Ljungaverk with the somewhat smaller Ljungaverk , the center of which is about six kilometers to the west , as the area between the towns along the road is practically continuously built on.
geography
The place is located on the lake Torpsjö in the valley of the river Ljungan and is crossed by the European route 14 and the railway line of Mittnabotåget . The geographical center of Sweden is located near the place. It is around 65 km to Sundsvall and around 125 km to Östersund .
Culture and sights
Fränsta is a center for business and culture in the area. In Fränsta there is a branch of the Ålsta Folk High School ( Ålsta Folkhögskola ), a church and a local museum. One of the sights is the Vikbron Bridge , one of the longest wooden bridges in Sweden. On the south side of the bridge you come to Viknäset , where there is a burial ground from the Iron Age.
Sports
Fränsta IK is a sports club from Fränsta. The club is active in football and skiing. With the Fränsta IBK , a floorball club existed until 2013 , whose men's and women's teams played at times in the third and second highest Swedish league and which is now reintegrated into the Fränsta IK .
