Ånge is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Västernorrlands län or the historical province of Medelpad . The place is about 100 kilometers west of Sundsvall and is the capital of the municipality of the same name .

Ånge was a small town in the municipality of Borgsjö (seat: Borgsjöbyn ). With the development of the railway , Ånge became a node on the railway lines Sundsvall – Storlien (–Trondheim) , the Norra stambanan and the Stambanan genom övre Norrland . The railroad became the largest employer - this is what it is today, alongside that of the municipality itself. The place was spun off from the original Borgsjö municipality in 1946 and incorporated into the city of Ånge in later years with effect from January 1, 1971.

Another important employer was Postverket , the Swedish Post Office. In October 1967 a distribution center for northern Sweden was inaugurated. At the beginning of 2012 the post terminal was closed again by the now privately organized Postnord AB .

The geographic center of Sweden is also located in the municipality of Ånge.
