Frédéric Schmied
Frédéric Schmied (born July 26, 1893 in Zurich , † September 23, 1972 in Geneva ) was a Swiss sculptor .

Frédéric Schmied attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva from 1916 to 1921 . He created torsos , busts and nudes in stone, marble and bronze . His sculpture The Awakening was acquired by the Swiss Confederation in 1925. In the same and in the following year Schmied received a federal art scholarship .
He exhibited his works in the Palais des Expositions in Geneva , the Kunsthaus Zürich and the Kunsthaus Glarus, among others . In 1926 Schmied took part in the Venice Biennale .
