Xavier Morilleau

François Xavier Arthur Florent Morilleau (born February 14, 1907 in Legé , † June 25, 1996 in Angers ) was a French Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of La Rochelle .

Life

He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Nantes on June 29, 1937 .

On May 5, 1954, he was appointed titular bishop of Ancusa and appointed coadjutor bishop of La Rochelle. The episcopal ordination donated him on June 24, 1954 in the cathedral of Nantes Jean-Joseph-Léonce Villepelet , Bishop of Nantes; Co-consecrators were the Bishops Jean-Marie Aubin SM , Vicar Apostolic of the Southern Solomon Islands , and Félix Guiller , Bishop of Pamiers . With the death of Bishop Louis Liagre on August 10, 1955, Xavier Morilleau became Bishop of La Rochelle.

On March 19, 1963 he renounced the diocese of La Rochelle and was appointed titular bishop of Colonia in Cappadocia . As a result of the provisions of Pope Paul VI. he renounced the titular bishopric on December 10, 1970.
