Françoise Dumas (born April 12, 1960 in Alès ) is a French politician . She has been a member of the National Assembly since 2012 .

Dumas studied law in Montpellier , where, among other things, Georges Frêche was her professor. Then she also studied in Paris and Toulouse . From 1986 she worked as a social worker in Nîmes . In 2001 she became an advisor to Damien Alary , President of the General Council of the Gard department . In the parliamentary elections in 2007 , she ran for the Parti socialiste in the first constituency of the Gard department , but failed because of Yvan Lachaud ( NC ). However, Dumas succeeded in entering the regional council of the Languedoc-Roussillon region , of which she was elected vice-president in 2010. In the 2012 elections , she ran again in the same constituency. In the second ballot she got 41.9% of the vote, which was enough for her to vote, as the remaining votes were split between Lachaud (34.3%) and the right-wing extremist Julien Sanchez (23.8%).
