Francisco Garrigós

Francisco Garrigós Rosa (born December 9, 1994 in Móstoles ) is a Spanish judoka . He was third at the 2017 European Championships and second at the 2019 European Championships.

Athletic career

The 1.60 m tall Francisco Garrigós has been fighting in the weight class up to 60 kilograms since 2011 . In 2013 he won a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships. In September 2014 he won the European Junior Championships, a month later he also won the U21 World Championships. Both in 2014 and in 2015 was Garrigós Spanish champion in the senior category, he won his third title in 2017. 2015 he finished fifth in the context of the 2015 European Games discharged European Championships . At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he was eliminated in his first fight against the German Tobias Englmaier . In October 2016 Garrigós won the Grand Slam tournament in Abu Dhabi .

Three months later he was eliminated in the round of 16 of the 2018 World Championships . In 2019, he defeated the Belgian Jorre Verstraeten in the quarter-finals and the German Moritz Plafky in the semi-finals at the European Championships held in Minsk as part of the 2019 European Games . In the final he lost to Luchum Tschchwimiani. At the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo , the two met in their first fight and Garrigós was eliminated, Tschchwimiani then won the world title.
