Franciszek Ksawery Siemianowski
Franciszek Ksawery Siemianowski also Franz Xaver von Siemianowski (* 1811 in Sanok , Galicia , Austrian Empire ; † January 8, 1860 in Stryj , Galicia) was a Polish painter and Austrian civil servant, from 1850 district commissioner of Krems an der Donau .
Franciszek Ksawery Siemianowski was the son of Antonina Janicka and Józef Siemianowski, who administered a state estate in Galicia. He was educated at the Theresianum in Vienna . He also took private lessons in watercolor drawing from Friedrich Gauermann , and probably at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts.
After completing his studies, he worked from 1832 as a concept intern and from 1844 as a clerk at the Imperial and Royal Lower Austrian provincial government in Vienna. Franz Siemianowski worked in the State Ministry in Vienna from 1848. From 1850 to 1860 he worked as district commissioner in Krems, where he created the most important of his cityscapes.
He had his first exhibition in Vienna in 1838 , and from 1850 he painted together with his brother. Further exhibitions in 1894 with works by Maksymilian in the Cracow Salon.
Siemianowski died in Stryj in 1860 while on a business trip . He is buried in Lviv .
The brothers' approx. 350 drawings and watercolors were given to the Polska Akademia Umiejętności (PAU) in accordance with his will .
His older brother Maksymilian was also a painter.
