Frank Berger (numismatist)

Frank Berger (* 1957 ) is a German numismatist and museum curator .

Life

After graduating from high school, Frank Berger studied history and German studies from 1977 to 1984 in Wipperfürth. From 1984 to 1985 worked for the Archaeological Commission for Lower Saxony in Hanover . Frank Berger was a co-founder of the Konrad Bayer Society in 1985 . He received his doctorate in 1990 from the University of Hanover . From 1985 to 1997 he worked at the Kestner Museum in Hanover. Since 1992 he has had teaching positions at the universities of Hanover, Osnabrück, Frankfurt and Marburg. Berger has been a curator at the Historical Museum in Frankfurt since 1997 . There he is responsible for the coin cabinet, weapons and armor, technology, models and dioramas.

Berger publishes publications on numismatics and polar research and is a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute . His main area of ​​research are Roman found coins. He also deals with the dating of Roman coins of the Roman-Germanic battles, such as the Harzhorn event and the Varus battle .
