Frank Ettrich

Frank Ettrich (born May 23, 1958 in Königstein / Sächsische Schweiz ) is a German sociologist , professor at the political science faculty of the University of Erfurt and former deputy director of the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy in Erfurt .

Life

After studying sociology and philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Lomonossow University in Moscow, he was a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology at the Humboldt University until 1993. There he received his doctorate in 1989 and habilitation in 1991. As early as 1990 to 1994, Ettrich accepted a substitute professorship in sociology at the Erfurt University of Education . During the same period Ettrich was also editor-in-chief of the newly founded journal Berliner Journal für Soziologie , of which he became co-editor in 1995. In 1993, Ettrich taught as part of a DAAD lectureship at the Department of Sociology at the University of Toronto . In 1994 he was appointed to the professorship of structural analysis of modern societies at the Erfurt University of Education , which was incorporated into the new University of Erfurt in 2001 . From 2003 to 2005 a DAAD lecturer at the State University of Saint Petersburg followed . In 2007, Ettrich held the position of Vice President of the University of Erfurt with a focus on research, young academics and international affairs, before becoming Deputy Director of the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy in Erfurt in 2008 and, from 2009, Director . In 2012 he moved to the position of Vice Director for Research, which he held until 2018.
