Frank Falkenstein

Frank Falkenstein (* 1964 in Duisburg ) is a German prehistorian .

Life

Falkenstein studied prehistory and early history, Near Eastern archeology and ancient history at the Free University of Berlin and graduated in 1991 with a master's degree. During his studies, he took part in several campaigns in what was then Yugoslavia and carried out a survey project on the Titeler Plateau. A DAAD scholarship enabled him in 1989 to study at the University of Novi Sad for a year . With the results of the survey he obtained his doctorate in 1995. After working for the preservation of monuments in the state of Brandenburg, he was a university assistant at the Institute for Prehistory and Protohistory at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg from 1996 to 2003 . After completing his habilitation in 2002, he was a university lecturer at this institute from 2003 to 2006. In 2006 he first became a representative and then holder of the professorship for Prehistoric and Protohistoric Archeology at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg . In 2007 he accepted the chair for Prehistoric and Protohistoric Archeology at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg .

His main research interests include the Middle and Late Bronze Age in Central Europe, the Early Bronze Age in the Carpathian region , landscape archeology, human-environment relationships, social archeology and religious forms of expression.
