Frank Løke (born February 6, 1980 in Sandefjørd , Norway ) is a Norwegian handball player . He is 1.93 m tall and weighs 106 kg.
Frank Løke started playing handball in his hometown at the national top club Runar Sandefjørd. There the circular runners made their debut in the first Norwegian league and won the Norwegian championship in 1999 and 2002. When his club got into wage arrears, however, Løke moved to SV Post Schwerin in the 2nd handball Bundesliga . There he was in the 2003/04 season with over 200 goals significantly involved in promotion to the first handball Bundesliga ; Nevertheless, he did not extend his one-year contract and moved on to FCK Håndbold in Copenhagen . There, too, he was one of the top performers with 140 hits, whereupon SG Flensburg-Handewitt became aware of Løke and signed him in 2005. However, with Michael V. Knudsen and Johnny Jensen the SG already had two strong runners; therefore Løke was loaned to the Grasshopper Club Zurich for a year before he was to inherit Johnny Jensen in 2006. But when Jensen extended his contract in Flensburg until 2008, the loan deal with Zurich was also extended by two more years.
In 2007, however, Arnold Schuler, President of GC Zurich and Løke's sponsor, was ousted. Schuler then moved to local rivals ZMC Amicitia Zurich ; at the same time he and Løke dissolved the still existing contract with Flensburg, so that Løke Schuler was able to follow in 2007 together with five other players to Amicitia Zurich. With Zurich, Løke won the Swiss championship title in 2008 and 2009 and the SHV Cup in 2009 .
In June 2009 Løke signed each contract with the clubs Skjern Håndbold and RK Zagreb . A short time later, Løke announced that he wanted to play for Zagreb, which is why Skjern hired a lawyer to investigate the matter. In September 2009 it was finally announced that he would wear the RK Zagreb jersey in the future. Due to the two contract signings, Løke was banned from the EHF for nine months for international games. However, RK Zagreb appealed the judgment, which is why Løke was initially eligible to play. On January 13, 2010 the judgment was upheld by the European Court of Arbitration of the EHF, whereby Løke was banned from all international club competitions until September 13, 2010. In spring 2010 Løke switched to TuS N-Lübbecke . From the summer of 2016 he was under contract with the Norwegian first division club Drammen HK . When there was an incident at the Drammen HK Christmas party in December 2015, Løke was given leave of absence. In January 2016 he signed a contract with IL Runar Sandefjørd.
Frank Løke has so far played 186 international matches for the Norwegian national team . He also took part in the 2006 European Championships and the 2007 World Cup in Germany. In the former even statistically the best circular runner of the tournament, he was eliminated both times after the preliminary round and in the latter he finished 13th in the end. The 7th place at the 2005 World Cup is therefore his greatest international success. At the 2008 European Championship in his own country, he achieved 6th place with Norway and was voted the best circular runner of the tournament.
His two sisters Heidi and Lise are also well-known handball players.
