Frank Luptow

Frank Lüptow called Frank Luptow (born November 20, 1905 in Detroit , Michigan , † September 21, 1952 in Atlanta , Georgia ) was an American racing car driver .

Career

Luptow drove races in various classes of US motorsport. He was champion three times in a row in the IMCA midget car racing series in 1949, 1950 and 1951. He drove five races in the NASCAR series in 1950 and 1951. His best result was 5th place in Charlotte .

In 1946, he entered a race in the AAA National Series . He failed to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 miles in 1,952. In September of the same year, he was killed in a stock car race in Atlanta when the rear axle of his Hudson Hornet broke.

His widow later married the racing driver Bobby Grim .
