Frank Mundy

Frank Mundy (actually Francisco Eduardo Menendez ; born June 18, 1918 in Atlanta , Georgia ; † May 15, 2009 there ) was an American racing car driver .

NASCAR

Mundy was one of the early stars of the NASCAR racing series. He started in 52 races, of which he won three between 1949 and 1956 and finished in the top ten 24 times. He was on pole position four times . He achieved his best overall result in 1951 when he was fifth.

Indianapolis

Mundy tried in vain to qualify for the 500 mile race in Indianapolis in 1954 . It was his only appearance in the AAA National series.
