Frank Neidhart Steigerwald

Frank Neidhart Steigerwald (born July 27, 1940 in Danzig ; † June 20, 2002 in Braunschweig ) was a German art historian .

Career

Steigerwald, son of the painter Lucia Steigerwald , studied art history at the University of Freiburg , among others with Martin Gosebruch , whom he followed in 1966 to the newly established chair for art history at the Technical University of Braunschweig . In 1972 he received his doctorate on the tomb of Heinrich the Lion and his wife in Braunschweig Cathedral , and in 1990 he completed his habilitation at the Technical University of Braunschweig with a monograph on Albrecht Dürer .

Steigerwald's research focus was on the Saxon Middle Ages, which is documented by a number of publications.
