Frank Riethmann (born December 9, 1975 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

society

Riethmann moved from the youth of SG Herten-Langenbochum to Borussia Dortmund . With Borussia he made it into the finals of the German A-Youth Championship in 1994 . The opponent in the final was SV Werder Bremen , who were looked after by coach Thomas Schaaf . After a goal from Riethmann's teammates Lars Ricken and two goals from Ibrahim Tanko , the game was won 3-2. The BvB was thus German A-youth champion. In the following years, Riethmann became part of the BvB's second representation . But he was also used in the Bundesliga team. The team that played for the German soccer championship was first class in Riethmann's position in midfield. The team of trainer Ottmar Hitzfeld included greats like Stefan Reuter , Andreas Möller and Matthias Sammer . He made his debut in the 1994/95 season when he came on as a substitute for Steffen Freund in the 73rd minute on matchday 22 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen when the score was 0-1 . Three minutes after his substitution, the final score of 0: 3 was established. It was his only outing that season, Dortmund won the championship with first place. In the following season Dortmund won the championship again, but Riethmann was no longer used. It was not until the 1996/97 season that he sniffed Bundesliga air again. He completed three short assignments. He played his last game in the Bundesliga in the 1997/98 season when he lost 3-1 to Arminia Bielefeld . He then remained connected to Borussia and continued to act as a second representative.

National team

For the German U-20 selection , he played three games in the preliminary round of the tournament in the course of the 1995 Junior World Cup in Qatar. The team of coach Hans-Jürgen Dörner retired after two draws and one defeat. In 1996 he played a game for the German U-21 team .
