Frank Scherer

Frank Scherer (born April 23, 1963 in Remscheid ) is a German administrative lawyer and district administrator of the Ortenau district .

Life

Scherer grew up in Dinslaken . He passed his Abitur at the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Dinslaken .

After completing his military service, he was temporarily in Canada. In 1984 he began studying law at the University of Marburg . He also studied at the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon and at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , where he passed the first state examination in 1990.

As a trainee lawyer, Scherer was in Freiburg, Duisburg and at the UN in New York and passed the 2nd state examination in 1993. This was followed by activities as an administrative judge in Freiburg and from 1995 as legal advisor and media officer in the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg . In 1997 Scherer became Deputy President of the State Office for Communication Baden-Württemberg .

In 2006 he was appointed Vice President of the Government of Freiburg . In 2008 he was elected district administrator of the Ortenau district. In 2016 he was re-elected with over 90 percent of the district council votes. In 2012, Scherer took over the post of President of the Eurodistrict Strasbourg-Ortenau until June 2014. His successor was the Lord Mayor of Strasbourg, Roland Ries . In its meeting on December 1, 2016, the Council of the Eurodistrict Strasbourg-Ortenau unanimously re-elected District Administrator Frank Scherer as President for the next two years. On December 6, 2018, the presidency passed back to Roland Ries, Scherer is vice-president.

Scherer is also chairman of the shareholders' meeting of Schwarzwald-Tourismus GmbH (STG) and chairman of the advisory board of Tarifverbund Ortenau GmbH as well as chairman of the special purpose association for waste treatment in Kahlenberg (ZAK). At the end of November 2018, Scherer was made an honorary senator of the Kehl University of Applied Sciences. Scherer had been a member of the University Council since the beginning of the 2009 winter semester and chaired it from 2015 to 2018.

Frank Scherer is married and has four children.
