Frank Trautmann (born November 26, 1960 ) is a German cameraman .

Live and act

Frank Trautmann is the son of the actor and director Lothar Trautmann . After graduating from the Schadow-Oberschule in Berlin-Zehlendorf in 1979 , Trautmann completed an apprenticeship as a photographer at the Berliner Lette-Verein . In 1981 he began further training as a camera assistant at Saarländischer Rundfunk . Several years followed as a freelance or permanent cameraman (e.g. at RTL plus and Telefilm Saar). Since 1989 he has worked at Sat1 (later at ProSiebenSat1 , Fernsehwerft Produktion Berlin ) as chief cameraman.

In the documentary film Spiel im Dasein , which was shown as the official festival film for the Max Ophüls Prize in 1986 and tells about Max Ophül's return , he was responsible for the script and as a co-producer in addition to the camera.

He has been teaching visual dramaturgy at the Free University of Berlin since 1996 and has been a member of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce examination board in Berlin since 2011 for teaching as a "media designer for image and sound".

He is the head of the jury of the German Regional Film Prize and, since 2012, chairman of the Federal Association of TV Cameramen (BVFK) .

From February 2015 to March 2017 he was on the board of directors of the federal association Die Filschaffenden .
