Frankenberg is a village in the Bavarian Forest and part of the municipality of Brennberg in the district of Regensburg . Frankenberg has about 100 inhabitants.

history

There are several theories about the origin of the place. One theory cites the beginning of settlement as the year 914 AD, in which Bishop Tuto of Regensburg initiated the development of the forest. Another theory assumes that the area around Frankenberg was settled as early as the Neolithic . This theory is based on numerous Celtic sacrificial bowls carved in stone that can be found around Frankenberg.

Little is known about the origin of the name Frankenberg. One possible explanation is that the first settler in the area was called Frank or was from the Franconian tribe.

From 1811 to 1970 Frankenberg was a separate municipality. On January 1, 1971, Frankenberg joined the community of Brennberg as a district.

In 2010 Frankenberg received a new village street, a canal connection and a paved village square.
