Franklin's Gardens is a rugby stadium in the English town of Northampton , County of Northamptonshire . It has been home to the Northampton Saints ( Aviva Premiership ) rugby union club since 1880 and has a seating capacity of 15,500.

history

At the beginning of the 20th century, there was an amusement park on what is now the stadium grounds, which was operated by hotel owner John Franklin. The stadium was named after him. Franklin's Gardens has been gradually modernized since the early 2000s. First of all, the old main stand and the opposite stand were replaced by the Church's stand and Tetley's stand, which were completed in 2002. The Burrda stand was added in 2005. As the last construction project so far, the old Sturtridge Pavilion was demolished and replaced by the Barwell stand, which was completed in October 2015 and has around 2,000 seats.
