Frans Ludo Verbeeck

Frans Ludo Verbeeck (born September 12, 1926 in Tisselt , Antwerp province , † October 5, 2000 in Merksplas ) was a Belgian composer and conductor .

At the age of 10 he played as a cornet player in the fanfare orchestra Willen is Kunnen von Tisselt , which was then conducted by his grandfather Frans Verbeeck. Afterwards his father took over the management of the orchestra and from whom he received his first music lessons. In 1936 he went to the music school in Willebroek and received there continued instruction from Jan van der Straeten . He pursued his education in 1939 at the Conservatory of Mechelen music theory at Schevernels and trumpet at Emiel Maes . Because of the war he had to drop out of his studies.

After the war he worked as a trumpeter in various small groups. In 1948 he got a job in the show and dance orchestra of Willy Rockin and later in the orchestra Leo Martin . With this orchestra he traveled all over Europe and North Africa. With the Leo Martin Orchestra he has accompanied various artists from the show and pop industry, including Édith Piaf , Freddy Quinn , Frank Sinatra , Louis Armstrong , Billy Eckstine and Caterina Valente . Often enough the arrangements for accompanying these artists came from him. In 1960 he became artistic director of a record company in Brussels and gained experience in all aspects of popular music.

He was the conductor of several fanfare orchestras and wind bands .

The first march compositions for wind orchestras (Bensberg, Fulda, Monte Carlo) also fall during the time he worked for the record company. In 1969 he came into contact with a Dutch music publisher specializing in wind orchestra music.
