František Fabiánek

Monument to the victims of the First World War in Brno-Ivanovice

František Fabiánek (born October 14, 1884 in Boskovice , † December 3, 1967 in Brno ) was a Czechoslovak academic sculptor . He created numerous sculptures and portraits for monuments and architectural purposes, which were erected on the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic.

Life

František Fabiánek attended the stonemason and sculpture school in Horice from 1901 to 1905 . He later studied from 1905 to 1910 with Josef Václav Myslbek at the Art Academy in Prague . In 1910 he stayed privately in Paris .

Between 1911 and 1914 Fabiánek lived in Hradec Králové and was involved in the design of several buildings in this town that were built during this time. Several of his works are available to the public here.

After the First World War, Fabiánek lived and worked primarily in the Brno region.

The statue of St. Wenceslaus (Sv. Václav) he created on the Kotouč (532 m) near Štramberk was destroyed, including its Czech inscriptions, after the fascist occupation in 1939. The remains of the monument were removed in 1948.
