Franz Martin Pecháček

Franz Martin Pecháček (also: Franz Martin Pechatschek , Pechaczek , Behatschek ; Czech František Martin Pecháček ) (born November 10, 1763 in Wildenschwerdt ; † September 26, 1816 in Vienna ) was an Austrian-German violinist and composer.

Life

Franz Pecháček trained as a violinist in Leitomischl and from the composer Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf in Weißwasser . From 1783 he lived in Vienna. Here he worked as Kapellmeister of the Landstraßer Theater and in 1790 of the Theater am Kärntnertor .

Pecháček composed twelve operas, twelve symphonies and thirty ballets, harmony music, piano works and masses.

With his successful Länders , waltzes and minuets he is the actual forerunner of Joseph Lanner and Johann Strauss . From 1798 he established the first public waltz performances in Vienna in the “Mehlgrube” pub and advanced waltz composition with numerous works. His son Franz Xaver Pecháček also became known as a violinist and composer. He performed for the first time in his father's chapel at the age of five in 1798 and at the same time presented his first waltz composition.
