plant
As a song composer, Kníže initially resorted to German texts, as there were only a few good Czech song texts. He later worked with Václav Hanka , who provided him with numerous texts. In 1819 Kníže published his first song book in the Czech language under the title Patero písní pro every hlas při kytaře neb fortepianu v hudbu uvedených a obětovaných svému Příteli a Vlastenci Václavovi Růžkovi . The ballad Břetislav , included in his second book of songs, was sung at meetings of the National Rebirth Movement and gained great popularity over time. The song Soužení lásky , contained in his third and last song book , became the title of a record of the Spirituál kvintet in 1980 with twelve songs of the National Revival, four of which Kníže composed.
In the field of church music , Kníže composed three pastoral masses in D, F and G, two large masses in F and G and a small mass in B flat major. He also created stage music and published guitar practice pieces.
In 2006 Collegium published 419 on the CD František Max Kníže - Pastoral Mass .
