In 1968 he was one of the top journalists in the country, but after the Prague Spring came the so-called normalization. He was expelled from society and was no longer allowed to publish anything. He published under various pseudonyms in order to support the family and began teaching at the Philosophical Faculty of the Comenius University in Bratislava. In 1989 he was rehabilitated and was dean until his retirement in 1996. He then attended the university until 2005 as a visiting lecturer. In 1999 he moved to Malacky with his wife, where he continues to work on new works. In 2011 he received the Suchohrad honorary citizen award.
