Franz Andreas von Borcke

Franz Andreas von Borcke (* 1693 in Labes ; † May 24, 1766 in Magdeburg ) was a royal Prussian lieutenant general and chief of infantry regiment No. 20 . He was in command of the Magdeburg Fortress , knight of the Pour le Mérite order as well as governor of Stolpe and Schmolentin, as well as seated in the castle of Labes , Wangerin and Regenwalde and hereditary lord of Unheim .

He was a member of the Pomeranian noble family von Borcke . His parents were the royal Prussian privy councilor and director of the Pomeranian War and Domain Chamber in Stettin Franz Heinrich von Borcke (* around 1675, † 1739) and Abigail Elisabeth von Borcke from the Döberitz family (* January 5, 1673). She was the sister of Field Marshal Adrian Bernhard von Borcke .

Life

In 1707 he came as a Junker in Infantry Regiment No. 22 (Borcke). In the War of the Spanish Succession he fought between 1707 and 1713 with the regiment in Brabant and Italy. On June 1, 1713 he was promoted to lieutenant and took part in the Pomeranian campaign in 1715/1716 . On December 23, 1715 he became captain in Regiment No. 20 (Silence). On January 3, 1723 he became major in Regiment No. 28 (Mosel). As early as October 9, 1723, he received the entitlement to the post of bailiff von Stolpe, which he actually received in 1729. On July 15, 1737 he became a lieutenant colonel with a patent from January 15, 1733. On April 21, 1739 he was appointed commander of Infantry Regiment No. 28 . On July 21, 1740 he became a colonel. During the First Silesian War he was used in the siege of Cosel. On May 28, 1742 he became commander of Regiment No. 16 (Flanß). During the Second Silesian War he came to the Corps of General von der Marwitz on August 22, 1744 . With the capture of Prague received the order Pour le Mérite. On July 15, 1745 he was appointed major general (patent from May 17, 1743), and on January 10, 1746, he was given Regiment No. 20 (Herzberg). On September 8, 1754 he was appointed lieutenant general (patent dated September 6, 1753). In June 1755 he became the commandant of Magdeburg Fortress. On July 4, 1756 he gave up his regiment, but kept the command post. In 1758 he was retired due to his age.

During his time as commandant, Gerhard Cornelius von Walrave and Friedrich von der Trenck were imprisoned .

He was married to Sophia Elisabeth von Mardefeld (* October 4, 1704, † January 4, 1728 in Wesel), she was the daughter of the secret Minister of State and President of the government of the Duchy of Magdeburg , Freiherr Gustav von Mardefeld . He had the following children with her:
