Franz Arnold von Vittinghoff called Schell (* March 10, 1754 ; † after 1810) was canon in Paderborn. He was nominated for the office of canon in the Principality of Münster . The cathedral chapter refused to be appointed to the office.

Life

Origin and family

Franz Arnold von Vittinghoff called Schell came from the Westphalian noble family von Vittinghoff . The rungs of the family held high offices in church, military and administration. From 1456 until the secularization in 1803 , the barons of Vittinghoff put the hereditary droids in the Essen monastery . Franz Arnold was the son of Hermann Arnold von Vittinghoff called Schell and his wife Maria Benigna von Galen zu Ermelinghof, daughter of Christoph Bernhard von Galen zu Ermelinghof and Anna Maria von Falkenstein. His brother Clemens August (* 1746, married to Maria Theresia von Merveldt ), Karl Friedrich was a subdeacon and canon in Hildesheim, Münster and Osnabrück.

Act

With the receipt of the tonsure on September 17, 1766 Franz Arnold was prepared for a spiritual life. After the death of Canon Ferdinand Maria Joseph von Galen on May 29, 1800, he was presented for the Galen family praise. However, the cathedral chapter refused to accept this important church office. In his place, the elector awarded the prebend to Friedrich Wilhelm Freiherr von Wolff called Metternich. From 1782 to 1810 he was canon in Paderborn.
