Hermann Arnold von Vittinghoff called Schell (born February 26, 1701 ; † October 2, 1768 ) was subdeacon and canon in Hildesheim and Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Hermann Arnold von Vittinghoff called Schell came from the Westphalian noble family von Vittinghoff . The rungs of the family held high offices in church, military and administration. From 1456 until the secularization in 1803 , the barons of Vittinghoff put the hereditary droids in the Essen monastery .

Hermann Arnold was the son of Arnold Johann von Vittinghoff called Schell (1656–1714) and his wife Theodora von Galen zu Assen (1654–1701), daughter of Johann Heinrich von Galen . His sisters Anna Theodora Helena and Maria Adolphina were canons in Nottuln Abbey . His brother Friedrich Ignaz was canon in Münster and Paderborn.

On April 16, 1741 he married Agnes Francisca von Ketteler zu Harkotten. After her death, he married Maria Benigna von Galen (* 1710, daughter of Christoph Bernhard von Galen zu Ermelinghof and Anna Maria von Falkenstein) in Lippramsdorf on February 20, 1745. The sons Clemens August (* 1746, ∞ Maria Theresia von Merveldt) and Karl Friedrich (subdeacon, canon in Hildesheim, Münster and Osnabrück) emerged from this.

Act

With the receipt of the tonsure on February 28, 1711 Hermann Arnold was prepared for a spiritual life. After waiving his brother Friedrich Ignaz he came into possession of a Dompräbende in Hildesheim and in 1727 in Muenster . He was ordained a subdeacon. Because of his marriage renounced it on April 16, 1741 to all offices.
