Franz Bardenhewer

Franz Bardenhewer (* 1945 in Bad Soden am Taunus ) is a German lawyer and former presiding judge at the Federal Administrative Court .

Life

Bardenhewer studied law at the University of Bonn and graduated in 1969 with the first state examination in law. During his legal clerkship , he also worked as an assistant to a member of the German Bundestag . After completing his legal clerkship and passing the second state examination, he became a judge at the Cologne Administrative Court in 1974 . In 1977 he became a judge for life and in 1981 a judge at the Higher Administrative Court for the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . In 1984 he was called with a thesis on the origin and resolution of disagreements between legislative bodies at the University of Freiburg doctorate .

In 1987 Bardenhewer was appointed judge at the Federal Administrative Court. As an assessor at the Federal Administrative Court, he was initially a member of the 7th Revision Senate , which dealt with environmental law and the right to regulate open property issues. In 2000 he became chairman of the 6th Senate of the Federal Administrative Court. Under its chairmanship, the 6th Senate was responsible for school, university and examination law, staff representation law , telecommunications law , association and assembly law , gun law as well as police and regulatory law . At the same time he also became chairman of the 2nd disciplinary senate at the Federal Administrative Court. When the 2nd disciplinary senate was dissolved in 2004, Bardenhewer became chairman of the specialist senate in accordance with § 189 VwGO and headed this senate as well as the 6th Senate until he retired at the end of April 2010.

As presiding judge at the Federal Administrative Court, Bardenhewer led, among other things, proceedings to ban the so-called caliphate state in 2002, to postpone military service in dual courses in 2007, to admissibility of tuition fees in 2009 and to disclose additional income from lawyers.

Bardenhewer is a member of the Catholic student association Arminia Bonn in the KV .
