Franz Graf Coronini-Cronberg (born November 18, 1833 in Gorizia , † August 25, 1901 at St. Peter Castle, ibid) was an Austrian politician and the son of Johann Baptist Coronini-Cronberg .

biography

Franz Coronini-Cronberg was brought up together with Eduard Taaffe with the Emperor Franz Joseph , initially studied philosophy and law , but joined a dragoon regiment in 1850, became a major in the adjutant corps in 1859 , and in 1865 a lieutenant colonel in the 2nd cuirassier regiment, distinguished himself in the battle of Königgrätz and took his leave as colonel in 1867 .

He retired to Gorizia, where he was appointed governor of the Fürsteten Grafschaft Gorizia and Gradisca in 1870 and held this office until 1899. At the same time he was elected a member of the state parliament and in 1871 a member of the Reichsrat . At first he belonged to the Left Club, and when negotiating the second settlement he went over to the Progress Club , which elected him to be its chairman , but separated from it in 1878 because he was an avid annexationist and decided Andrássy's policy on the Orient, namely the occupation of Bosnia approved, also as the President of the delegation zealously supported.

On October 14, 1879 he was elected President of the House of Representatives , but resigned from office in March 1881 because of differences with the constitutional party and formed a middle party in the House of Representatives that was friendly to the government. In 1895 he resigned his mandate from the Reichsrat, in 1897 he was appointed a member of the manor house .

He was married to Anselma Sophie, Countess von Christalnigg von und zu Gillitzstein (born September 1, 1832, † October 21, 1919). The couple had the following children:
