Imperial Count Johann Baptist Alexius Graf Coronini von Cronberg (born November 16, 1794 in Gorizia ; † July 26, 1880 at St Peter Castle near Gorizia) was the Imperial and Royal Chamberlain , Privy Councilor , Feldzeugmeister and owner of Infantry Regiment No. 6 as well as military and civil governor in Crown Land of the Voivodeship of Serbia and the Temesian Banat , then the Banus of Croatia .

Coronini-Cronberg joined the Austrian Pioneer Corps as a cadet in 1813 , served in the Italian Freikorps under Colonel Schneider in 1814 , entered Modenese service in 1824 , then again into Austrian service. He was a captain in Italy for several years , until in 1836 he was assigned to Archduke Franz Karl as chamberlain and appointed tutor of his eldest son, the future Emperor Franz Joseph . The other son, Archduke Karl Ludwig , taught Count Karl von Morzin, in 1837 he became a major and in 1843 a colonel .

On June 26, 1848, he was appointed major general and brigade commander in South Tyrol , where he had to protect the passports leading to Italy , and with his rise in rank, on July 22, 1849, he was appointed field marshal lieutenant adlatus of the commanding general in Slavonia and Croatia . In 1850 he became military and civil governor in the voivodeship of Serbia and the Temesian Banat. On February 1, 1851, he became the first owner of the newly established Imperial and Royal Infantry Regiment No. 6, " Charles I, King of Romania " and in the same year also chairman of the commission for the reform of military schools. In 1854 he commanded the observation corps that Austria had set up on the Turkish-Russian border during the Crimean War , and occupied Wallachia , which he did not vacate again until 1856. He was then from July 28, 1859 to June 19, 1860 Banus of Croatia.

After he was honored with the title of Feldzeugmeister ad honoes on June 19, 1860, the day of his resignation as a Ban, and on October 20 of that year Ludwig Ritter von Benedek had succeeded to the post of Commanding General in Hungary , he received the rank of a real Feldzeugmeister on September 1, 1861. At his request, he was allowed to retire on April 18, 1865.

He died 15 years later, very old, at his St. Peter Castle near Gorizia.

1687 : Squared shield with central shield. In the red central shield a closed golden royal crown hovering over a triple green hill. 1 and 4 in silver a double-tailed red lion leaping open towards the right side, which holds a burning torch in its front paws. 2 and 3 in gold the imperial black double-headed eagle. Two crowned helmets cover the shield.
