Franz Ferdinand Will (born October 19, 1747 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † April 21, 1814 ) was a German pastor and naturalist .

Life

Will was a pastor in Unteressendorf and a licentiate in theology. He later became city pastor and canonicus in Rheinfelden ( St. Martin (Rheinfelden) ). Over a period of forty years he built up a rich and well-known natural collection with minerals, fossils and animal and vegetable preparations.

On February 1, 1794, Franz Ferdinand Will with the nickname Eubulus IV. Was elected member (matriculation no. 974) of the Leopoldina . He was also a member of the Swiss Society for Natural Research and the Wetterau Society for All Natural History .

After his death, the natural history collection was taken over by his brother-in-law, the Freiburg pharmacist Keller, and made available to the public in his house in a hall (14 large glass cabinets and boxes, 110 drawers).
