Franz Gailliard , also Frans Gailliard and François Gailliard (born November 30, 1861 in Brussels , † February 16, 1932 there ) was a Belgian painter , etcher and illustrator .

Frans Gailliard studied from 1873 to 1881 at the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles with Jean-François Portaels (1818–1895), Joseph Stallaert (1825–1903), François-Antoine Bossuet (1798–1889) and Paul Lauters (1806 -1875). His fellow students included u. a. James Ensor (1860–1949), Léon Frédéric (1865–1940) and Fernand Khnopff (1858–1921).

After graduation, he spent some time in Paris , where he exhibited from 1882 to 1891. He also went on study trips to Italy (1898) and Greece (1910).

Gailliard provided illustrations to many magazines. In addition, he also created portraits and landscapes. He also dealt with etchings. His drawings were always realistic, while paintings showed an influence from post-impressionism.

He showed his paintings at art exhibitions in Brussels (from 1880), Paris (from 1882), Berlin (1896), Düsseldorf (1904), Venice (1909), Munich (1910) and Amsterdam (1912).
