St. Peter and Paul (Fretterode, Evangelical Lutheran)
The Evangelical Lutheran branch church of St. Peter and Paul is located in Fretterode , a community in the Thuringian district of Eichsfeld , on a hill on the south-eastern edge of the village . There is also a Roman Catholic church with the same name in Fretterode . The congregation Fretterode is the Pfarrstelle associated Arenshausen. This belongs to the Mühlhausen parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
location
The church is located on the southeast edge of the village on a small elevation, the Kirchanger. The surrounding walls and tower suggest a defensive character. Immediately adjacent is the historic Anger von Fretterode with remains of the Angermauer, a stone table is no longer there. Until the end of the 19th century, the Anger was also a meeting place and party.
description
The plastered hall church was built in 1713. The rectangular nave with two axes has a three-sided end in the east and a flush connected church tower in the west. The tower has a square top with a squat hood , on which a narrow eight-sided top stands, which in turn carries a hood, everything slated . On the lintel of the portal in the west is the coat of arms of those von Hanstein with the construction date. The interior is covered with a flat ceiling. The choir stalls for the clergy are on the south side .
